During my first and second semesters studying chemical engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, I had time alloted at the lab for experiments. The purpose of this was for me to learn most of the main procedures and methods used in a chemistry lab and to practice doing them.

Some of the basic procedures I learned are listed here:

• Distillation
• Analytical methods for discovering solution and salt compositions
• Preparation of complexes
• Preparation of colloidal solutions
• Oxidation and reduction of ions in solution
• Falling of a salt
• Measuring electronegativity differences
• Titration
• Disposal of chemical waste
• Neutralization of solutions
• Usage of a centrifuge

These procedures and the knowledge acquired thereby created a good foundation for my laboratory courses in later semesters.

The first was written by me, the second by my lab partner Mai Hoang, and the third by both of us together.
